Rotation Pegboard Machine
Patent number: 4,807,986

DESCRIPTION

The Rotation Pegboard Machine (R.P.M) is a variable speed pegboard rotator. Rotates in clockwise and
counter-clockwise mode, and can be used in the testing a training for:

Oculo-motor pursuit movement

Providing visual resolution training.

Perception of stereoscopic effect with only monocular vision and visual tactile training.

The front disc can be replaced or the red/green discs can be added so training can be done with
red/green goggles.

Improvement can be monitored by increasing speed from 1-99 revolutions per minute.

Additional training can be done by positioning the rotating table in a variety of angles - 0 to 90 from the
horizontal position.

Dynamic visual activity measurements can be accurately recorded and reproduced. Eye-hand
coordination is also enhanced and can also be monitored.

Technical information on our instrument that we are currently manufacturing for specialists in the field of
Physical and Occupational Rehabilitation / therapy, Optometrists and sport vision.

R.P.M.-1, The Rotating Pegboard Machine is designed for tracking and stimulating eye movement for
vision therapy.  This instrument is a valuable tool for providing visual resolution training.  Adding different
training disks (which are available), the instrument can be a very useful tool for training patients affected by
such problems as dyslexia, head injuries and sport-related accidents.  This instrument is also very useful
for Occupational Therapists improving eye-hand coordination and enhancing self-confidence.  In the
geriatric population, improvement may be seen by stimulating the peripheral visual process and central
information - processing systems.

This device can reproduce visual acuity measurements for vision training and testing.  Vision training has
long been a recognized procedure used by doctors and therapists in a wide variety of diverse disciplines
for testing and training patients affected by such problems as mentioned above.  This instrument has found
application among increasing numbers of optometrists, ophthalmologists, physical and occupational
therapists and other members of the health-care team.  In the sport medicine area alone the users include
several major league baseball and football teams.  The instrument can vary the speed from 0 rpm to 100
rpm.  This linear speed variation is the most important in the training for oculo-motion pursuit movement,
and visual resolution training.

The training is done using red and green or white pegs.  The holes in the training disk are drilled in a
square pattern which causes the pegs to be mounted in a pseudo-random pattern while in motion.  One of
the tests/training is done by having the patient wear eyeglasses or goggles fitted with one green and one
red lens and is thus able to see or intentionally block from view certain color-coded pegs, to differentiate
between the left and right eyes.

Additional training can be achieved by versatility of angles that the rotating table can be fixed.  The table
can be adjusted from zero to 90 degrees relative to horizontal potion.  An additional feature to this
instrument is the capability of rotation clockwise and counterclockwise.

Our Rotation Pegboard Machine(R.P.M.-1) is utilized in hospitals and universities worldwide.  Among them
are Pacific University, Forest Grove, Oregon, SUNY College of Optometry in New
York and the
University of Sydney in Australia. Many doctors and therapists have been known to provide
them to individual patients on a short-term lease basis for practice and testing at home.
